The human heart is so much more complex
Than we imagined:
Not simply pumping blood, or feeling love,
But layered over many times
With memories of tears and joy,
Assumptions and associations
That color our responses in ways
We barely understand, yet still
We listen to its promptings
And trust it to guide us safely
Through the challenges we face.
