Why rush to perfection?

Mary Oliver said it best:
“The ripeness of the apple is its downfall.”
Instead of rushing to perfection,
Why not enjoy the slow ripening of wisdom,
The gradual bloom of wonder in your cheeks...

Thank you for this - "Not rushing to perfection" is exactly what I needed to hear today. I really need to accept that perfection/wisdom before its proper time is yet another false construct of the ego.

"Not rushing to Perfection" is just the words I needed to hear to finally release a "funk" I've been in for the last few days. I'm tired of telling myself and others to be patient. This poem takes the focus off me (ego) being patient to an anticipatory restful state of bearing witness to transformation.
