Painting as prophecy

I never know (or plan) 

What I’m going to paint until it’s painted, 

But this one was even

More of a surprise than usual, 

And yet, upon reflection, it makes sense, 

So I have to wonder: 

Can intuitive painting become 

A sort of reflective prophecy?
