Though we may at root be one,
Wherever two or more are gathered,
There will inevitably be divisions:
To remain in relationship will always necessitate
The building and the maintenance of bridges;
A conscious and shared determination
To fix whatever’s broken
Before the rot can spread
To the point where all connection
From one side to another is lost.
Rebuilding is ever so much harder
Than the effort required to effect
Those daily repairs.
