Perception

The human eye, like the human heart, 

Will notice details more mechanical assessments 

 Fail to capture — 

Which explains why I drove round the block 

After passing these madronas, 

So that I might photograph 

 The wetness of their skins — 

 A feature that only registers here 

If the viewer zooms closer in — 

Just as intuition, when explained, 

Somehow loses its conviction —

 Which doesn’t necessarily mean 

What we noticed wasn’t real…
