Light, like love

A patch of sun in the late afternoon 

Ignites my neighbor’s tree, 

And suddenly she’s beautiful — 

But perhaps, like each of us, 

She always was: it’s just that light, 

Like love, brings out all unseen beauty, 

And sets our hearts aflame.
