Peaceful morning

Having grown used to the sound of foghorns, 

The cats are dozing quietly on the couch 

As I look out over my neighbor’s field, 

So mysterious and inviting in the morning’s mist; 

All the energy of summer, 

Masked in a wash of gray as the day begins… 

I revel in the peace.
