Adaptability

I marvel at the ingenuity of nature;

How readily plants adapt to their habitats —

 Like these lovely golden irises, 

Thriving in the mud at the edge of a pond, 

Able to deal with both 

 The presence and absence of water, 

And the inevitability of change. 

I wish we humans could be more accepting 

Of the ups and downs of life.
