Separated by so much more
Than a simple pane of glass,
There’s nonetheless that moment of connection,
An acknowledgement of all we have in common:
The air we breathe, the sunshine
That illuminates our lives,
The grasses, trees, and seas
That surround us both,
And the children both of us have borne;
Heartfelt appreciation
For the precious life and space
We both have shared.
