Cherish the stillness

Welcome life's storms, however painful and disruptive:

they can take us to new places

where we'd never have thought to go.

But cherish these still moments,

and the reflections that they offer:

that focus brings stability 

to face the storms to come.

 

The root of all joy

The root of that surge of joy we feel

when we catch sight of someone we love 

is the sense of the heart's expanding

to work and hope for the goodness and joy

in some life other than our own.

Imagine how full our hearts would feel

if we could care that way for ALL beings!

Celebrating transitions

In the midst of packing up our home of 14 years, we took a break to sit on our back deck, enjoy a sip of wine, and drink in the sights and sounds of an evening by the sea.

It's hard to leave -- we knew that would be true.  And yet, there is this sense of anticipation; that the inevitable downsizing that comes with age and time and children grown might bring its own rewards; that having less and living in less might offer a certain freedom...

Love is everywhere
